Council Decision (EU, Euratom) 2016/1763 of 29 September 2016 appointing three members of the Court of Auditors

The Committee on Budgetary Control adopted the report by Igor ŠOLTES (Greens/EFA, SI). The committee called on the European Parliament to deliver a favourable opinion on the Council’s nomination of João Alexandre TAVARES GONÇALVES de FIGUEIREDO (PT) as a Member of the Court of Auditors . Following his hearing which was held on 5 September 2016, the Committee on Budgetary Control considered that the candidate met the requirements laid down in Article 286(1) of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union (TFEU). The European Parliament adopted by 537 votes to 38, with 94 abstentions, a decision in which it gave a favourable opinion on the nomination of João Alexandre TAVARES GONÇALVES de FIGUEIREDO (PT) as a Member of the Court of Auditors , having met the requirements laid down in Article 286(1) of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union (TFEU). PURPOSE: to appoint a Portuguese member to the Court of Auditors. NON-LEGISLATIVE ACT: Council Decision (EU, Euratom) 2016/1763 appointing three members of the Court of Auditors. CONTENT: with this Decision, the Council decided to appoint João Alexandre TAVARES GONÇALVES DE FIGUEIREDO as a member of the Court of Auditors for the period from 1 October 2016 to 28 February 2018. ENTRY INTO FORCE: the Decision shall enter into force on 29.9.2016.
