The European Parliament gave its consent to the appointment of the President, the Vice-President for external relations (High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy) and the other Members of the Commission, as a body, for the term of office running to 31 October 2024. The new Commission was approved by 461 votes to 157, with 89 abstentions. The decision follows hearings of Commissioners-designate held from 30 September to 14 November 2019 before the parliamentary committees and the committees’ evaluations of the Commissioners-designate after the hearings.
