The European Parliament approved by 522 votes to 27, with 51 abstentions, the appointment of Iliana Ivanova (BG) as Commissioner-designate for innovation, research, culture, education and youth, for the remainder of the Commission’s term of office until 31 October 2024. The hearing of Iliana Ivanova was held on 5 September 2023, led by the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy and the Committee on Culture and Education. Following the hearing, both committees gave Mrs Ivanova a positive assessment, a position confirmed by the Conference of Parliamentary Committee Chairs and the Conference of Presidents.
