The Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs adopted the report by Roberto GUALTIERI (S&D, IT) on the proposal of the Commission for the appointment of the Chair, Vice-Chair and Members of the Board of the Single Resolution Board (SRB) . The committee approved the Commission's proposal for the appointment of the following proposed candidates: Elke König for the function of Chair of the Board, Timo Löyttyniemi for the function of Vice-Chair of the Board, Mauro Grande, Antonio Carrascosa, Joanne Kellermann and Dominique Laboureix for the function of Members of the Board. It is recalled that Regulation (EU) No 806/2014 provides that the Chair, Vice-Chair and the Members of the Single Resolution Board (SRB) are to be appointed on the basis of merit, skills, knowledge of banking and financial matters, and of experience relevant to financial supervision, regulation, and bank resolution. The European Parliament decided by 522 votes to 105, by 67 abstentions, to approve the proposal of the Commission for the appointment of the Chair, Vice-Chair and Members of the Board of the Single Resolution Board (SRB) . Parliament approved the Commission's proposal for the appointment of the following proposed candidates: Regulation (EU) No 806/2014 provides that the Chair, Vice-Chair and the Members of the Single Resolution Board are to be appointed on the basis of merit, skills, knowledge of banking and financial matters, and of experience relevant to financial supervision, regulation, and bank resolution. PURPOSE: to appoint the Chair, the Vice-Chair and the further full-time members of the Single Resolution Board (SRB). NON LEGISLATIVE ACT: Council Implementing Decision n° 943/2014/EU on the appointment of the Chair, the Vice-Chair and the further full-time members of the Single Resolution Board. CONTENT: under this Decision, Mme Elke KÖNIG is appointed Chair of the SRB for a term of three years (renewable once for a period of five years) from the date of entry into force of the Decision. The following persons are appointed full-time members of the SRB for a term of office of five years as from the entry into force of the Decision: The Decision recalls that, in order to ensure a swift and effective decision-making process in resolution matters, the Single Resolution Board established by Regulation (EU) No 806/2014 is to be a specific Union agency with a specific structure corresponding to its tasks. The composition of the SRB should ensure that due account is taken of all relevant interests at stake in resolution procedures. Taking into account the tasks of the SRB, a Chair, a Vice-Chair and four further full-time members of the Board are appointed.
