Council Decision (EU, Euratom) 2016/2392 of 19 December 2016 appointing a member of the Court of Auditors

What it is

The Committee on Budgetary Control adopted the report by Bart STAES (Greens/EFA, BE) on the nomination of Juhan PARTS (EE) as a Member of the Court of Auditors. Parliament’s Committee on Budgetary Control evaluated the credentials of the nominee, in particular in view of the requirements laid down in Article 286(1) of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union. At its meeting of 5 December 2016, the Committee on Budgetary Control heard the Council’s nominee for membership of the Court of Auditors. Following this hearing, Members called upon the Parliament to deliver a favourable opinion on the Council’s nomination of Juhan Parts as a Member of the Court of Auditors. The European Parliament delivered a favourable opinion (488 votes to 133, with 88 abstentions) on the Council’s nomination of Juhan PARTS (Estonian) as a Member of the Court of Auditors. At its meeting of 5 December 2016, the Committee on Budgetary Control heard the Council’s nominee for membership of the Court of Auditors and considered that the candidate met all the necessary requirements. PURPOSE: to appoint an Estonian member to the Court of Auditors. NON-LEGISLATIVE ACT: Council Decision (EU, Euratom) 2016/2392 appointing a member of the Court of Auditors. CONTENT: with this Decision, the Council decided to appoint Juhan PARTS as a member of the Court of Auditors for the period from 1 January 2017 to 31 December 2022. ENTRY INTO FORCE: the Decision shall enter into force on 19.12.2016.
