Council Decision (EU) 2023/2114 of 9 October 2023 appointing a member of the Court of Auditors

partial renewal of the Court of Auditors (2022) - appointment of the Slovakian candidate. Under Article 286(2) of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union, the Council appoints members of the European Court of Auditors, acting by a qualified majority on proposals by the respective Member States, after consultation of the European Parliament. The European Parliament is consulted on the Council's proposal to appoint Ms Katarína KASZASOVÁ as a Slovakian member of the European Court of Auditors. The candidate has been managing director of the auditing oversight authority (Úrad pre dohľad nad výkonom auditu), Slovakia since 2020. She has previous experience working with the European Investment Bank (EIB) in Luxembourg. The European Parliament decided by 597 votes to 12, with 33 abstentions, to give a favourable opinion on the Council’s nomination of Katarína Kaszasová as a Member of the Court of Auditors. Ms Kaszasová, nominated by the Slovak government, currently serves as a managing director of the Slovak Auditing Oversight Authority, a post she has held since 2020. Before that, she held managerial posts at the European Investment Bank, the European Investment Fund and the European Stability Mechanism in Luxembourg. Parliament’s Committee on Budgetary Control evaluated Katarína Kaszasová’s credentials. As part of this evaluation, the committee received a curriculum vitae from Katarína Kaszasová and the answers to the written questionnaire sent to her. The committee then held a hearing with Katarína Kaszasová on 4 September 2023, during which she made an introductory statement and then answered questions put by committee members.
