to conclude, on behalf of the European Union and its Member States, the Accession Protocol to the Framework Agreement on Comprehensive Partnership and Cooperation between the European Community and its Member States, of the one part, and Indonesia, of the other part, to take account of the accession of Croatia to the European Union. ROLE OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT: Council may adopt the act only if Parliament has given its consent to the act. BACKGROUND: according to its Act of Accession, Croatia undertakes to accede to the international agreements signed or concluded by the European Union and its Member States by means of a protocol to those agreements. The Framework Agreement on Comprehensive Partnership and Cooperation between the European Community and its Member States, of the one part, and Indonesia, of the other part, was signed on 9 November 2009 in Jakarta and entered into force on 1 May 2014. BACKGROUND: the Protocol of Accession to the Framework Agreement on Comprehensive Partnership and Cooperation between the European Community and its Member States, of the one part, and Indonesia, of the other part, to take account of the accession of Croatia to the European Union, has been signed, subject to its conclusion. The Protocol should be approved. The comprehensive Framework Agreement for Partnership and Cooperation between the European Community and its Member States, of the one part, and the Republic of Indonesia, of the other part, was signed in Jakarta on 9 November 2009. Croatia has undertaken to accede to the agreements concluded or signed by the European Union and its Member States with one or more third countries or with an international organisation, in accordance with the Act concerning the conditions of accession of the Republic of Croatia and the adjustments to the Treaty on European Union, the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union and the Treaty establishing the European Atomic Energy Community. CONTENT: the draft Council proposal seeks to approve, on behalf of the Union and its Member States, the Accession Protocol to the Framework Agreement on Comprehensive Partnership and Cooperation between the European Community and its Member States, of the one part, and Indonesia, of the other part, to take account of the accession of Croatia to the European Union. The European Parliament adopted by 621 votes to 6, with 2 abstentions, a legislative resolution on the draft Council decision on the conclusion, on behalf of the Union and its Member States, of the Accession Protocol to the Framework Agreement on Comprehensive Partnership and Cooperation between the European Community and its Member States, of the one part, and the Republic of Indonesia, of the other part, to take account of the accession of the Republic of Croatia to the European Union. Parliament gave its consent to the conclusion of the protocol. This Accession Protocol allows the Republic of Croatia to accede as a Party to the Framework Agreement on Comprehensive Partnership and Cooperation between the European Community and its Member States and the Republic of Indonesia which was signed in Jakarta on 9 November 2009.
